Mrs. Wendy McNeill is the Director of Banyan Elementary School, Banyan High School and Banyan LIFE Academy. This position was effective on July 1, 2017. Mrs. McNeill was formerly the Principal of Banyan Elementary School since January of 2014.  Mrs. McNeill’s impressive credentials include over 35 years of experience in the field of Special Education.  She has served the Little Falls Township Public Schools as a teacher, Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant/Case Manager and, most recently, as the Director of Special Services; a position she held for over 13 years.  In this capacity, she was responsible for all students in the district requiring special education, as well as supervision and oversight of the department staff, operations, and budget.  In addition, Mrs. McNeill served as President of the Passaic County Association of Special Services Administrators. She currently serves on the Advisory Committee for the Alliance of Private Special Education Schools of Northern New Jersey.

Mrs. McNeill’s mission is to provide the students of Banyan School with a supportive environment that will foster both academic and social/emotional growth. Believing that all children can and will learn if given appropriate instruction, Mrs. McNeill strives to work with her professional colleagues to determine each student’s individual learning style, and to tailor a program that will meet each child’s unique needs.

 

Ms. Marguerite Freeman is the Principal of Banyan High School. She has  over 25 years of educational experience in the  classroom, which includes vocation to  academic. Ms. Freeman joins us from the  Piscataway Township School District,  where  she grew in responsibility from  Special Education Teacher to Special  Education & Building Administrator. In  her Margueriteadministrative capacity,she established a behaviorally-based special education program for 9th – 12th grade students and she  was responsible for the 18-21 year-old Structured Learning Experience (SLE) Program.

 Ms. Freeman’s goal is to give students the tools to become productive and fulfilled adults. She meets this goal through working  with the staff, students and parents as a strong foundation, providing a distinctive and individualized education and unrestrained access to the necessary resources to continue their success.

Ms. Patricia DiGiaimo is the Assistant Principal of Banyan Elementary School. Ms. DiGiaimo’s professional career spans a wide variety of experiences in the field of special education. She began her career as a teacher of preschool disabled students at the Felician School for Exceptional Children in Lodi, NJ for 9 years. She then assumed a position as a consultant for preschool disabilities programs for the New Jersey Department of Education in both Passaic and Sussex counties. Ms. DiGiaimo then worked for the Paterson Public Schools special education department where she spent the bulk of her career. She began as a resource consultant and Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant (LDTC) for the preschool disabilities program within the school district. She subsequently became the Director of the Special Education programs with responsibilities to supervise instructional and child study team staff in several of the district K-8 schools.

From 2012 to 2016, Ms. DiGiaimo assumed a position with the New Jersey Department of Education as an Intervention Specialist with the New Jersey Department of Education Regional Achievement Center (RAC 1). In this capacity, she was responsible for overseeing many special education programs in schools identified in need of improvement. In addition, for the past three years, Ms. DiGiaimo participated in Pre-Session training of Alternate Route teachers at William Paterson University several weekends throughout the year addressing topics of behavior management, special education, parent involvement, lesson development and specialized instruction.
